Week 10

This is the last week for me to type on this blog. This is also the last week for us to do for this assignment... I guess is bye bye then? But before saying that, I still have things to share during my class.
Our final blog assignment lecture will be given by Mr. Mustafa and I've already guessed that this will be a short lecture because Mr. Mustafa told us that Mr. Radzi Bedu will come and brief us about our last assignment. So today's topic will be in advertising.

Advertising is the common thing to us. We can found advertisement around us easily! Advertisement seems to be everywhere. As our population increases, the amount of advertisement rises too. It seems like a "spam" and "cookies" to all of us but we're used to it! Just look at the data on the slide that our lecturer gives us to watch. In US, 14 to 24 year old people will spend more than 16 hours online per week. 56% of them spend more than 1 hour daily sending IM's, 25% prefer social networks to F2F, 96% uses a social network daily. Just look at this, we'll able to understand why advertisement's amount shoot up rapidly in such a short time. Advertisement not only benefits us from learning something new but also make the company or whoever make it. As population increases, active people will increases too as u can see from this chart.

When people become more active, there are more people tend to exposed to advertisement. As I said, advertisement benefits both user and maker, that's why it increases so much. Just for an simple example how to prove advertisement had increases. Everyone knows Youtube right? Did you notice that there always be a advertisement bar like this? Ya, they put it there so you might just happen to click it and sees it advertisement! Not only that, famous blog will get lots of advertisement surrounded because when there're lots of people, there will be a possibility to get watched.

But the important part is also the creativity of the advertisement. Everything is about creativity because we live in a creative world! Why creativity is important to advertisement? Look at these, to you feel bored?

or do u rather to choose to watch this kind of advertisement?

It is interesting yet obvious what it is implying. But to make an success and interesting advertisement, it is a hard work. It requires lots of creativity because their target is not only people, but the people around the whole world unlike assignments for student which their aim is only for lecturer. For me, I would like to watch interesting advertisement because it is interesting!

Mr. Mustafa also let us watch a short video about TED Talk given by Mr. Renny Gleeson. It is about 404 error page. Does this sound familiar to you? It does to me because I've encounter lots of 404 page before. Like I just mention, an interesting advertisement would attract me so why not make everything into something new, fresh, creative and interesting! When we receive a 404 page, although it doesn't seems impolite, but we're still angry because it's a 404 page! Like Mr. Renny Gleeson said, why not we make it interesting? Just like this!

It is wonderful and we didn't get annoyed right? This is where creativity took place and this is why creativity in also an important material for making an advertisement. I shall end my post here and it's finally the time to say BYE BYE~

week 9

Today Mr. Yap Sau Bin is giving us the lecture~ I wasn't able to write a full and complete post about this week due to Mr. Yap Sau Bin haven upload this week's slide yet, but I'm going to tell you a little bit that I've remember in class. As everyone know, We're a part of  Creative Multimedia and now we're learning Creative Studies, of course we'll be a little crazy! Oh ya, there's a quote from Bill Gates that i saw in facebook few days ago :" I will always choose a Lazy Person to do a difficult job because he will find an easy way to do it. Be lazy!! Think Crazy!!" So that's why we must think crazy too~ This is applied on Mr. Yap Sau Bin because he's a little crazy too~ Haha

I remember he told us creativity is anyway! He just put a chair in the middle of us and he take out a big pole out of no where and just decorate it with the chair! Not once only, he kept on changing post and he also take off his pair of shoes and also "borrowed" our classmate's shoes and decorate with the chair! "This is also an art!". Indeed, everything can be an art and we can use our creativity to create something fresh, new and crazy out of nowhere~

Besides this, I also remember that he ask us a question. The question is about how to have 3 chairs in our house, but when our visitors or others came into our house, they wont sit in one of the chair and sit the other two? This is a tricky question as the others will still sit the chairs but not the only one specifically! Oh ya, there's something I've missed. Use a box to make this situation happens! Many answer came out from us. But the whole box and seal one of the chair, put a box written "bomb" on the chair and also put the box under the chair and make it so high that others aren't able to reach it. As everyone is different, answer came out from us are definitely varies too~ That's why creativity in us is unique!

week 8

RANDOM WORD! Not random slide but random word~ Looking at this topic, we already know what's about it. Mr. Radzi Bedu is here to tell us about random word that affect us in our life. If we use it correctly, it might helps us a lot! But there's still one thing i'm not sure... Why is it everything every lecture in our class in every subject is about mind map? Mr. Radzi Bedu reminds us again with the "MIND MAP~~" again... As u can see the title, random word means randomly word. Before we even think, we just simply say a random word! How could this help us find a solution? We don't just need random word, but also the help of mind map. For example, how to make a person can't sit a chair for 10 mins? Now, let us think a random word.... okay, lets use bubble gum! After that, draw a mind map about this random word like this 

As you can see, these are the idea extracted from "Bubble Gum" to make a mind map. So with these clue, we only expand and think how solve out problem. Bubble gum is elastic as we know, but what if we make a chair is also elastic like the bubble gum? As we know, elastic is like a spring, it can make to anyone but it wont last long. Wont last long... is another random word out of it! So we can make a elastic chair that will change shape over time so that anyone couldn't sit long on that chair! Not just that, with the idea "air blows out", we can make a "balloon chair" that the air inside the chair will decrease as time goes on and become uncomfortable to sit. Thus, the person will definitely get off it. WALA! our problem is SOLVED!! We din't just think our the problem but using a random word to help use.

Beside this slide, Mr. Radzi Bedu also let us see another exercise. The problem is "How to train/prepare 3 students to become Creative Studies tutors in 6 months time" and the random word is Monkey! After this slide is only the main dish for today~ The work we needa do!

Problem/ Situation: How to make a person stop smoking in 6 months time?

Random Words: Traffic Light

Now, Mr. Radzi Bedu had gave a lot of examples on "Colours" idea and now he wanted use to do the rest. Let's take a look at my ans.

Dirty

The Outer layer of the cigarette is cover with slimy and smelly liquid. The smoker will found it hard to hold on the cigarette and hard to get near because of the smell. Even they managed or ignore the slimy and smelly liquid, they still needa find a place to wash their hand after that so is inconvenient. 

Metal

The Outer layer of the cigarette is made of metal. Not only it is hard to heat up, even when it heat up, the metal will quickly transfer the heat and burn the smoker's lips

Sign

Inside the cigarette is like a glowing stick, but the different part is, the glowing part is like a flash light! It will flash the whole are with light! Not only it will let others from far to notice u're smoking, it also irritates surrounding people and the most important is, the flash light hurts the smoker's eyes

week 7

I'm not sure why but before the class begins, everyone just stood up as the class has ended! But it isn't, it is just Mr. Radzi bedu have problem with the computer and change the class to E-theater. Wow.... a better class that everyone wanted to have class there >.<

Juxtaposition is the title for today's class. Hmm..... I've seen this word before... Ya! in my game "dota"~  but i'm not sure with the meaning and this is what our lecture told us "Making the Strange Familiar". As you can see from this picture, Mickey mouse!

Everyone know it's Mickey mouse because it is famous, but if you ask someone that doesn't know mickey mouse, they'll say it is a mouse. But is this thing really a mouse? No! Of course not! Because mouse doesn't talk and mouse definitely didn't have hands. This is where juxtaposition takes place. This is a juxtaposition of a mouse and human. It is strange to say it but when u look at it, u'll say it is a mouse! For another example is Spongebob!

It is the juxtaposition of a sponge and a human! Just like this, a cartoon character is created! Not only in cartoon, juxtaposition helps many people in many ways especially in design line. Juxtaposition is always used in many advertisement



Next, i'll show u an exercise given by our lecture Mr. Radzi Bedu. He didn't tell us what exactly is this exercise and he keep it secretly. He just want us to follow. First, This two rows of words was shown but not the numbers (the numbers were added after few steps).


Then he told us to choose 3 pairs of 2 digit number from 00 to 99 and the numbers i picked was 08, 50, 79. Now, the numbers beside those 2 rows of words only reveal and according to our number, match the words!

These three are the words I've gain.

It's sounds kinda stupid, but it's fun when u doesn't know what will happen next. Then he call us to create 3 sentences with those 3 words separately for example : __fly______wood___. So these are the sentences I've created.

Next Mr. Radzi Bedu told us to draw a picture to represent the sentence we've created! This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard because just now we just simply create those sentences without thinking even though it is weird... So This three are the picture I've drawn.

At the end.. He told us to create 3 sentences with the words we've match. The three words I've match is "Fly Wood", "Fire Head" and "Dog Rain" and I'm suppose to draw these out... How am I going to draw it out?! But i'm a designer and I'm a pro! So this is the 3 figure I've finish.

It really look weird and awful... but it's ok because it's a fresh thing to do as an exercise and it is so random! Haha. Finally, Mr. Radzi Bedu told us to write a poem about "Chili" and this is what i did!

At last, he still told us to write some poems and these are the poems I wrote.

Life is like a candle

When time passes, our life is shorten

our tears grows more

our body became weaker

but the fire within us still embracing like normal till the last minute

But when the time come

we still needa leave

although our body seems do be there like the melted wax

but our soul is gone like the core of the candle.

Oh ya, I left out something that I didn't post on this post. This is a picture that is created by me. Because Mr. Radzi Bedu called us to combine two animal together but this creature cannot survive and this is what I've created! DINO-PRAWN!!! ROARRRR

week 6!

When i was thinking of today will be another "Yea or Yo" day, Mr Mustafa is not here instead of Mr. Radzi Bedu is here to be our lecture today! This is the one thing you get when you didn't pay attention to when is your lecturer going to change, surprise! Haha.

Today he taught us something bout our brain. How we'll think, how our brain function. Yes, we have 2 brains, the left brain and right brain. But i only know the basic knowledge about them. As shown in the picture, this is what I knew about our brain and i also know it is important for us to use our right brain more!




But today's lecture taught me something new and fresh. Mr Radzi Bedu said, when we're thinking a word like his name "school", there isn't word "school" can be found in our head. Maybe the "s" is somewhere on the right, the "c" is on the left side, the "h" is in the middle, the"o" is bottom and etc. What i'm trying to say is, those alphabet can be randomly arrange but our brain will connect one another and form a word within a second! It could be less than a millisecond! We don't need to think before we want to say a word, unless you dunno how to pronoun or say it. We don't need to think "what is my name? ok, my name should be.... Tan? Lih haur?" No, we don't need to do that because our brain will automatically help us to gather the information we need! That's why our brain is so FANTASTIC! Although it seems our brain is working all the time, it is not thinking all the time! We won't be thinking all the time because that's not how it was. For an example, when we wake up, we'll kick our blanket off, roll for a few times and go to the bathroom. But we won't think that "should I kick my blanket off?" "should i roll on my bed?" "the bathroom is wet, will i fall if i step in the bathroom?" We won't be thinking all these because if we do, we'll spent alot of time just to wake up.

Not only that, Mr. Radzi Bedu continue with Mr. Mustafa's topic in mind map. That not only logical mind map that is taught by Mr. Mustafa but also associated mind map. Now, let me show you the difference between these two.






Logical mind map means everything is related to the main idea, it is all connected and there's a relationship between them no matter how many branches have been spread.

Associated mind map means it spread from the main idea to random ideas. It doesn't need to be connected to the main point. Unlike logical mind map, it stays it its own circle but associated mind map is random! it can go as far as we can think about it.

After the lecture, our Mr. Radzi Bedu gave us all a piece of A3 paper and told us to take 3 idea from this mind map, and continue our journey~ Meaning of this is spread it out with associated mind map and see how creative we can be. so this is my work. Although i couldn't finish all 3 ideas in class, but i manage to think 2 creative idea which i'm impressed by myself too~ haha. (you can click on the picture to enlarge it~)
